Artist Statement

My expressive landscape paintings provide the viewer a moment to be immersed into an underlying sense of calm and wonder. I celebrate birds through my use of two-dimension, relief and playful perspectived.

Using a bird’s eye view, flight patterns, or birds and their surroundings, my images convey a romantized time. Each image offers a dynamic swooping or sometimes perched views, or as if looking through a morning dew drop while collecting a worm.

After years of working as a textile designer, my two worlds of painting and pattern are blended together now into my urban and rural scenes. In my series of impasto relife like works on canvas, I work with a technique that celebrates my use of line appearing to be covered in a blanket of winter white snow.”

Art Bio

Sandra Mucha’s interest in bending shapes started at an early age. She recalls the first time twisting and stretching a transferred newspaper comic with Silly Putty. Her curvilinear images are also influenced by living in extreme temperatures and different terrains. She was uprooted from whirling blizzards of western New York to the melting and sometimes visually warping flatlands of Texas summers. Sandra is an award winning fine artist and textile designer living near Dallas TX.
